GIRDLE TOLL CHURCH OF SCOTLAND, IRVINE NEW TOWN
Bryce Knox Court, Girdle Toll, Irvine, KA11 2BJ
TIMES OF SERVICES
11.00 am Sunday
The parish was created in 1978 when the Presbytery decided to support the foundation of a church in Girdle Toll to serve the area which was planned to grow dramatically as the New Town developed. Meetings were held in the original community centre for a number of years and, as the membership grew, a decision was taken to build a church and halls complex within the parish. The building was scheduled to be completed in two phases.
Phase one included the conversion of a farmhouse into a manse and one of the barns into a hall along with a vestry, toilets, kitchen and Session room. The sanctuary was to be a new structure built on the same site, and forming part of an enclosed square. This was completed and opened in 1990.
Phase two followed soon afterwards and included another barn conversion, to complete the square, along with two other meeting rooms and toilets. This was completed in 1992. In May 2005, the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland granted Girdle Toll Church full status within the Church of Scotland.
As the Parish Church we make ourselves available to all of the 8000 inhabitants of Girdle Toll and try to provide opportunities for regular worship and education in the Christian Faith. Our organisations provide a safe, challenging and enjoyable outlet for young and old alike.
